I was born in Salisbury Wiltshire but moved to the out skirts of Southampton at 10 years old where I attended Mountbatten School in Romsey. When I left school I went to work as an apprentice engineer and attended college on day release where I achieved a HND in mechanical engineering. I have since had many jobs in the aerospace industry become a team leader some 14 years ago, I am presently a team leader for H&S aviation in Portsmouth looking after the machine shop. I became a school governor to help repay the school for the excellent start to education that it has given my 3 sons as I believe that every child has a right to a good education so they can achieve whatever they aspire to. When I am not at work my interests are classic motorcycles and computers but most of my time is spent as mini soccer coordinator for Stubbington Youth FC.
I have been a Governor at Ranvilles Infant school for the past 25 years and have held various Governor roles during this time. I have held responsibility as the Chair , Vice Chair and initially as a Parent Governor.
Four of my children attended the school in the early part of my tenure and I have felt that their experiences in their Infant school life has contributed to the strong , happy , secure adults they have become . I have invested a personal commitment and have a continued interest in the education and development of the children at Ranvilles Infants and it is rewarding to be able to continue to offer my support and experience in a governor role.
I feel that I have gained a wealth of experience overtime and through the changing role of Governor responsibilities and accountability within the school . I have contributed to the schools development plans , undertaken recruitment and performance reviews and been a representative on a number of the Governor committees which has provided an awareness of the many business functions of the school community.
In my professional role I have worked in Children’s services , Education , Psychology and Mental Health services and feel that my professional knowledge and background provides a greater knowledge and skills which are useful within the Governor role in supporting the school.”
I grew up in Portsmouth and moved to Fareham in 2002.
I trained as a Junior school teacher at Worcester College of Higher Education and spent twelve years
teaching at schools in Gosport and Sarisbury. I then decided on a career change and set up my own
business making and selling costume jewellery. Now I enjoy being a stay at home mum to my two
I first became a Parent governor when my eldest son was in year 2 and then was elected as Chair of
Governors in September 2018. Ranvilles Infants gave my eldest a great start to his education and
encouraged a willingness to learn and explore. I am passionate about the creative curriculum which
is taught throughout the school as I can see the enthusiasm all children have for their learning.
Having been both a parent and teacher, I hope that I can give something back to the school through
my role as a Governor.
In my spare time I enjoy watching rugby, baking cakes and knitting.
I have lived most of my life in Portsmouth, I graduated in Portsmouth with a BSc (hons) pharmacology and since then have an array of skills in clinical research, clinical trials, business management, marketing, training, sales and NLP.
I moved to Fareham in 2008 after marrying my husband.
I have always had an interest in training and believe education is avery important part of life.As a parent i have always wanted my children to have the best start in education and continue to have so in the future.
My journey with Ranvilles Infant School begun when my eldest son started at the school back in 2010. Since then we have never lookedback, the school’s values and beliefs have truly given my son the strong foundations from which i know he will thrive. My youngest son has also recently started at Ranvilles infants and his love to learn and be the individual he is are growing day by day.
I applied for the Governor’s role as I want to work closely with the school to get a further insight into the curriculumand to support as much as I can to always ensure the outstanding school always exceeds.
In my spare time I love spending time with my boys (including my husband) we try to go out as much as we can over theweekends to see different places and countrysides.
I enjoy reading and badminton and have trained in Classical Indian Dance Kathak which although I don’t practice as much these days.
I have lived in Gosport and Fareham all my life where I live with my husband and two sons.
My oldest son is currently in year one and my youngest son will start school in two years time. My eldest son loves attending Ranvilles and has grown in confidence based on the school values and nurturing staff.
I work part time as an accountant which I have worked for the same employer since leaving college.
I am interested in helping my sons to have the best start to their school education which I believe is very important in life, however I am unable to assist in school hours.
I applied for the parent governor position to utilise the skills I have to assist and support in a governor role to give something back.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family having fun, whether it be at the park, playing games and especially family day trips to the theme parks or the zoo which are our family favourites.
I was born in Exeter but grew up in Southampton. As a military family we have moved around a fair bit, but I returned to Fareham in 2015 where my family is now settled. Before deciding to stay at home to raise my children I worked for the NHS Blood Donor center as their administrator. I have 4 children, my eldest is currently in year 1. In my spare time I volunteer for RNRMW and help run a coffee morning and playgroup for our local community.
I am very happy to have the opportunity to be parent governor at Ranvilles Infant School, it’s exciting to think I can help school to continue in its outstanding direction.
